Goodnight Moon was a favorite of all four of our children. We have all been so blessed to be a part of your journey!!
Love You Forever by Robert Munsch is one of my favorite books to read to my girls. Although I cannot read it without tearing up, It is still one of my favorites.
A Bad Case of Stripes by David Shannon. It is very colorful and it teaches us to be ourselves regardless of what others think. Wendy
I have lots of favorites. One set of books that Caden loves are "My First" boardbooks. They have some with colors, textures, etc. He has learned a lot of animals, colors, etc... from looking at them. You can get them at Barnes and Noble. He LOVES Goodnight Moon and the sequel to it. We read that every single day. Also, if you get a kids meal at Chick-fil-A you can ask for the toy for the younger babies and it's a hardback small book.
The girls' favorites are Go Dog Go, I'll Love You Forever, The Napping House, The Parable of the King, and the Franklin (the turtle) series of books. My all time favorite storybook is The Tale of the Three Trees. What a great question!
Hi there! My name is Stephanie Hickman (I was Stephanie Hogan - I roomed with Cindy at PC and then was on staff with CO out of Gville, was in her wedding...) She sent the address to your blog and I've been stalking you ever since :) Anyway, we have three (5, 3, and 1) and my absolute favorite book we have found is "The Jesus Storybook Bible." It really focuses on Christ like no other one we've seen. It's a little advanced for Sophie right now, but it's a gem for later.
I have loved being about to peer into your journey. Glad Cindy sent it!
Pajama Time is one of our girls favorites, the author Sandra Boyton is absolutely fabulous. All of her books are great.
Green Eggs and Ham, and The Giving Tree. My husband and I long to be parents, your story is such a blessing. :)
Echoing a lot of the same here... Goodnight Moon has been Adelle's favorite for about a year now. She also loves the Sandra Boynton books... What's Wrong, Little Pookie is Adelle's second fave right now... it cracks us both up! Adelle also loved the Touch and Feel Books, though she is growing out of them now. They'd be just right for Sophie now, though!
We love to read to Caroline "Guess How Much I Love You" and "Goodnight Moon". Another favorite is "The Giving Tree". ALL 3 books are must haves!!!
Hey! Goodnight moon and Love you forever are awesome choices! We also love Mercer Mayer books.

It has been a while :) but my girls loved The Napping House, The Hungry Caterpillar, Guess How Much I Love You. Jamie LOVED The Rainbow Fish. We all loved Max Lucado's You are Special.

Good Night moon is a MUST! Golden Book Treasury books, Dr. Suess, I'm A Bunny, any of the "DK" books that have real pictures...great for building word recognition, The Runaway Bunny, Mother Goose, Corduroy, The Little People Books with "flaps", and any nursery rhymes. Eric Carle books: Brown Bear, Brown Bear...good repetitive books. Jamberry. Robert McCloskey Books...Make way for Ducklings. Reading is one of the greatest things you can do with Sophie! Enjoy.
Hey you guys...I love children's books so much and have been collecting them for quite a while...so it's hard to say a favorite. But I will recommend one that is about Thailand called...Cows in the House...it's a Thai folk tale and it has pictures of Thai life and some Thai words. I also love All the Places to Love by (I think) Patricia MacGloughlen (I know I didn't spell that right!). I might have the author's name wrong. It's a beautiful book...great story and illustrations. One more...King Bidgood's in the Bathtub. My students liked that one. There's so many great books out there. Itchy, Itchy Chicken Pox...Josh Hunt loved that one when we taught him. I love the book that you have on the blog...I've never seen that one! I'm going to pass that on! Hope you guys are doing well! Love, Stacey
Sorry...I couldn't resist...I had to look it up...it's Patricia MacLachlan. She also wrote Sarah, Plain and Tall, which is a great story, too. Some other Thai tales include Hush! and Peek! I think I have Hush!, but not Peek! I always keep my eyes open for Thai books and Spanish books. I love books! :-) Stacey
One of Emma's favorites is "Who Is Coming to Our House?". It is a nativity story from the perspective of the animals and the illustrations are wonderful.
Pat the Bunny is a must. It's a great book that plays upon the senses and is a total classic. I totally second the choices of Goodnight Moon and Love You Forever. The Pokey Little Puppy was also a fave.
Curious George! Other favorites are Harold & the Purple Crayon and the Giving Tree.
Nancy (from AWAA Yahoo group)
dossier in progress for our little one!
Sara Kate loves Time For Bed by Mem Fox. "It's time for bed little mouse , little mouse, darkness is falling all over the house." It goes through different animals and it is way way cute!
Hey guys. I don't remember my favorite books but I know Jameson's were any of the Dr Seuss books, and The Giving Tree.
Sara loves, "Just In Case you Ever Wonder" and "I've lost my yellow zebra". Isabelle likes "Hungry Caterpillar" and "I'll be your Princess." They've both always liked "Mrs. Spider" books and "Angelina Ballerina."
I've enjoyed all the above.
Love,
Cindy
Brown Bear Brown Bear is the BEST! There's even a song tune that goes with it!
Also, there is an Authur episode where Binky Barnes' family goes to China and adopts a little girl...it happened to come on PBS while y'all were in China...and it was very similiar to your journey even down to the Singing Show! You've got to watch it and order this one on dvd!
Hi Sweet Family!! It's Tiffani Meade Long. Children's literature is so vast and wonderful!!! Our absolute family favorite is "The Rough Face Girl" we also love anything by Audrey and Don Woods--"The Monster at the End of This Book" is a lot of fun, too! all of the other suggestions I've read on here are wonderful, too!!!
Max Lucado has written some great books for kids. They are books which tell wonderful stories of our Heavenly Father's love for us. My all time favorite is The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstien.
I think one that Kendall liked at Sophie's age was Go Dogs Go. Dina and I would act it out and when you drive around if she saw a red light she would say Stop Dad Stop. That was always funny to me. I think any of the books where Sophie can flip something up and see something new is always fun for her. Kendall liked being able to find things. Just becareful cause Kendall has ripped a few of them out of there. =)
We have a set of books called "My Bible Friends" by Etta Degering. Each book has 3-4 bible stories written for little ones. We read these so much to our boys when they were little, that we would leave out words and let them fill in the blank. They especially liked for daddy to read them, as he would add in sound effects to each story. I have a great picture of daddy reading Daniel in the Lions den...daddy & both boys are all roaring like lions! Wonderful books!
Both of my kids LOVED the book Big Dog... Little Dog by P.D. Eastman
