Beautiful one

Sophie Mei Lewis, my daughter, my precious,

Today I saw you for the first time, but it's not the first time I have loved you.

Today I wept over you, but again, not the first time.

Today I told your mother I loved her; the first time was 10 years ago.

Today you made me smile.

Today you made many smile.

Today your hair is awesome and sticking up. Mine is turning white.

Today I learned of your weight. I am trying to forget mine.

Today I learned that you have been living with foster parents. Answered prayers.

Today I thanked God for you, I know He's smiling with me.

Today you're on the other side of the planet, but your in my heart.

Today you still don't know who I am, I know you.

Today you're awake for the day, I am about to go to bed. I hope to see you in my dreams.

Today your new family celebrates over you.

Today I think of your birthparents, I love them.

Today I need you to be patient with me, I'm coming sweetheart.

TodayI need you to smile and love your foster parents, they love you.

Today I need you to eat good, rice soup can be yummy.

Today I need you to know that you're mine, but only entrusted by Maker.

Today I commit again to taking care of you and your mommy, you're going to LOVE her, she's so crazy about you.

Today I put your picture up all over the world, many friends are praying for you.

Today is cold in Georgia, but you have warmed my heart.

Today God's Spirit will hold you, I ask him to do this often. Don't ever resist Him my precious.

Today you made me laugh.

Today I long to hold you, soon I will.

Today has been a day we have waited for before you were even born, but Providence knew.

Today I ask Provider to take care of you.

Today I ask Banner to cover you.

Today I ask Peace to fill you.

Today I ask Wisdom to lead us.

Today I ask Savior to walk with you and speak of His life.

Today I ask Spirit to point to Savior the Beautiful One.

Today I ask Love to hug and kiss on you.

Today I ask Joy to tickle you.

Today I ask Kindness to look over you.

Today I ask Warrior to protect you.

Today I ask Grace to give us belief.

Today is a great day, a very very great day.

Today I am satisfied with you and your mommy, but more with Christ, He fills me so I can love.

Today I love you, but I have already told you that, get used to it, but not unmoved by it.

Today I need you, my beautiful one.

Today is, in fact, a very very good day. I'm blessed beyond words to have felt 1/100000th of the pain and elation and ache and thrill of anticipation and disappointment and NOW utter JOY that you've experienced all these years/months...nothing rivaling the emotions you are dealing with. But as the tears are streaming and my heart is beating faster from reading the sweet words of a father in love with his wife, his precious child and most supremely, his Sweet Savior, I feel His love more tenderly and acutely than I have in a while. I am committed to praying for Sophie, her little mind and heart and spirit....and for her precious parents. Love you both! Jill

Dude! I read that and I feel all funky inside. Like butterflies gone wild (Hopefully not a reality show).

I am so excited I just wish it was December tomorrow. You are SO gonna rock as a dad.

As my little one says G-daddy maaak. I cannot wait to hear what she will call you (hopefully something good of course). Or make that run in to you after a long day at work. It will make the whole horrible day better. Good times coming for you man and I am so happy for you two!

Sherry is gonna rock as a mother. You guys have such patience!!! Ok, I am rambling!!!

Take Luck!

I know you only through your sister Carla, but I read this note and I am so moved! I am so happy for you. I am so happy for your daughter. I would like for every parent to look at this in the world and take a moment to appreciate all they have. I will pray for all of you but I think all your prayers have already been answered. May you and your family be enveloped in love, happiness, hope and faith all your lives. God bless you always and thank you for sharing. You have made me remember just how bless I am too. Thank you for that gift!

Dearest brother, This is one of the sweetest, most touching things I've read in a very long time. You two are going to make the best parents any child in this world could hope for. I'm so happy for you, and for the rest of the family. I can't wait to see my new niece and tell her how much I love her!!

My cup runneth over...

Love to all three of you!!

But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness.

God has smiled on you this day, may it seem like a thousand years. I'm celebrating in prayer and thanksgiving for you guys and grateful for God's blessing and your faith in Him.

I'm rejoicing with you and over God's great provision, faithfulness and timing. My tears were flowing with yours as I read your thoughts and reflected on God's similar sweetness to us through our process of adoption. God is Good! You guys were one of the first to come visit with our Andrew... I wish we could be one of the first to visit Sophie :)

I was given your blog address from Melissa Eckert and boy, was I blessed! We, too, are adopting a little girl, but from Guatemala. As I read your entry, I am so overwhelmed with emotion! Your words were so beautiful and one day Sophie will cherish them! Congratulations on your referral and here's to a brand new life of parenthood! Welcome to the club!
I will now be praying for you and your family for a speedy homecoming.
